The 5:00 pm gathering meets on Sunday nights at… (you guessed it) 5:00 PM.

We share a meal together, participate in contemplative prayer, have a message/group discussion, music & communion.

EVERYONE is welcome whether you consider yourself a follower of God through the way of Jesus, are searching, wandering, questioning or want nothing to do with it except enjoy our wonderful faces and the free food.

The Euc is experimenting with “Home Grown Gatherings” where we have one of our worship gathering in someone’s home until we find a new permanent gathering space. The Euc is also experimenting with the day & time we gather..starting this week we will have our gathering on Sunday Nights from 5-7. This Sunday we are having a “Home Grown Gathering” and the Shepherd family is hosting it! If you need directions click here to contact the Euc!

The Euc has found a new gathering space! We are hoping to move into our new space in the next couple of weeks, but until then we will continue with our Home Grown Gatherings!

The Eucharist is big part of the identity of who and what The Eucatastrophe is as a faith community. It is the one constant that we share together as community of followers of God through the way Jesus on a weekly basis. The table, as we often call it, is the great equalizer in our community and it is open to all who want to participate in it: Christ follower, seeker, even those who don’t know what to think about Jesus, conservative, liberal, moderate, anarchist, queer, transgender, straight, any color, tall, short, skinny, fat, tattooed, not tattooed, and the list could go on and on — who are we to say who is on the guest list? This is not our table, this is Jesus’ table and all are welcomed to it.

About Euc Music

We are often asked what is the music like at The Euc and often we respond, “Our music sounds like Fort Worth.” With the help and talents of many gifted local musicians, we have Travis “Tripp” Mathis and Joel “Bieber” Thompson are at the creative helm of The Euc’s music. Our music is mixture of old hymns, original works, and relevant covers of the likes of Bob Marley, Leonard Cohen, Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, and Old Crow Medicine Show to name a few. No matter what we are singing, it sure sounds like the Triune Creator in Fort Worth to us.

What’s with the name???

Eucatastrophe or “The Euc” (The Yuke) – as we call it – is an intentional faith community in the Fort Worth greater metro area. The late J.R.R. Tolkien coined the term eucatastrophe in his essay entitled On Fairy-Stories (this essay can be found in a collection of his works called, The Tolkien Reader). Tolkien used the term eucatastrophe to explain the “turn” of events in the story that gives hope to hopeless. It is where the light invades the darkness so the hope and the joy of the Creator may be illuminated throughout all of creation. “The Birth of Christ is the eucatastrophe of humanities’ history. The Resurrection is the eucatastrophe of the story of the Incarnation. This story begins and ends with joy.”

How do you describe The Euc?

This is a question we frequently get – and for many of us, we don’t exactly know how wrap a concrete definition of who we are within a five-second answer (let alone in a longer diatribe). It’s not that we don’t know who we are – it’s just something that’s difficult to put into words. One night during a gathering we jokingly and affectionately started calling The Euc: “This Thing Of Ours.” And, for many of us, it stuck. The etymology of the term “This Thing Of Ours” is rooted within the vernacular of the American mafia; however, the concept it carries – of not having words to sum up what you are a part of – is redeemable to us as a community. If we had to give a short description of who we are to someone who has never hung out with us, then “This Thing Of Ours” perhaps best suits us. Now, we don’t use “This Thing Of Ours” of ours as a claim of exclusivity or elitism. But on the contrary, we strive to be an inclusive – meaning ALL are truly welcomed – community of hope for everyday people who holistically travel together on our faith journeys as followers of God through the way Jesus.

So, whether you consider yourself a follower of God through the way of Jesus, or connect with Jesus but are burnt out on institutional religion, or have serious doubts about faith & want a place that will let you be & authentically ask questions, please come and join us in “This Thing Of Ours” we call The Eucatastrophe. If you are planning on joining us for our 5:15 Sunday night gathering, please contact us so we know how much food to prepare for our meal together. But if you happen to swing by without calling ahead, don’t worry: we usually make a little extra.

We as a community along with our children’s pastor, Anna-Kate, have created an organic rhythm for our Eucsters (young Eucers) who are growing up within our faith community, The Eucatastrophe. It is our desire to journey and mentor our young ones – as followers of God through the way of Jesus within an inclusive, holistic community of hope for everyday people.

So, if you are interested in The Eucatastrophe and want a place for your children that is not program driven, but driven rather with a focus of empowering young ones in their rhythms-of-life-as-followers-of-God, please know that there is a place for them here. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Anna-Kate via email or call and leave a message at (817) 458-8630!
